Light from the darkness

There's always a lot of "buzz words" flying around the media, the corporate world and every day life. I always try not to subscribe to the "well, times are tough....", "gotta spend money to make money" or the "just a few bad apples" buzz from a few years ago. I can't stand some of these however, One cliche' saying that has carried a lot of weight with me over the past few months is "Everything happens for a reason".

I'm sure you're all familiar with what happened to me and I'm not going to make you beat that dead horse any longer but, I think it may carry some weight, not just for me, but with a lot of folks out there who I care about who are having a hard time swallowing what life is dishing out, I feel the need to tell you something...You might not understand what, why or how your life has turned into a nightmare but, rest assured, there is a reason for it. You might be a great person, and think you don't deserve what you're going through or that life should give you a break, But remember this: "Everything happens for a reason".

I'm not saying this to be cute, funny, or to discount any one's bad experience. Everything does happen for a reason. We might not know why at the time, and we may never know the answer to that question, but know this : life is a bit like a roller coaster, we enjoy the exhilarating highs and are afraid of the lows but, we can't allow the scary drops to keep us from being happy. There is a reason to think that, out of the darkness is light. The dark times are necessary in order to enjoy the times when everything is right with the universe.

When I was going through my dark time, I was the happiest man in the world, had everything I ever wanted in life with a loving partner, great home life and job. When it came to an end, it was more than I could deal with. Several of my aforementioned friends have kids and have told me that they have thought about doing what I did, but they wouldn't do that to their children. I have people who I care about lose jobs, partners, parents...and some of them were afraid to talk to me about it after what I've been through.

Things are so much better for me now even though, I still wonder why I'm here. I'm happy with the way things have turned out for me. I have become closer to my family, closer to some of my friends, and quite surprised by how much this has impacted so many people...and in so many different ways. Tell the people you love that you love them, they may not be here one day.

Sometimes, it seems as if life just pounds you with bad things all at once. Why is that? What is it that life is trying to get across to us?

It doesn't matter why. We may never know.

Just remember that everything happens for a reason.....and to look for the light amidst the darkness.

I like this...but I don't think EVERYTHING happens for a reason. I think some things do, but not EVERYTHING....I think that we make our own destiny/future...and I also say its how we adjust or you could say 'deal' with the changes in our lives that tell whether or not we can "go with the flow" or sink.... but I liked this hub because you are right...there is always light at the end of the tunnel!~ =)
